In this blog entry, the NJ Oriental rug cleaning experts here at Aladdin Oriental Rug will detail the worst types of stains that do the most damage to your carpets and rugs.
Grape Juice and Red Wine Stains
Grape juice and red wine are especially hard to remove stains. Grape juice and wine carpet and rug spills should be cleaned as soon as possible, and handled very carefully. Grape juices have natural dyeing capabilities which makes their stains hard to eliminate. Wine stains can be removed by absorbing as much of the liquid as possible with a clean cloth or towel, and then using a cleansing agent like a heavy-duty stain remover. Even after applying the stain remover, there is often a small stain left, which our professional carpet and rug stain removal service can deal with.
Tomato Sauce
Tomato sauce or any food with tomato-based sauces can create ugly, dull, red stains that look awful on light colored carpets or rugs. ONLY use cold water to remove tomato stains, as hot water will set the stain in place, making it very difficult if not impossible to remove.
Dyed Beverages and Foods
Drinks with dyes like drink mixes or artificially colored juices leave tough stains on rugs and carpets. You need to soak these spills up as soon as possible. Treat these stains the same way you’d handle red wine stains or grape juice stains.
Coffee
Coffee spills need to be handled as soon as they spill. Remove as much of the spilled coffee as possible using a clean rag or towel, blotting it up from the outside in. Then, apply the stain removal agent and blot away from the outside in, working your way to the spill’s center, and carefully DAB, never rug in, as this can rub the stain deeper into the carpet/rug, as well as strain its fibers.
